Industry Pick Up: Last Place
Update after 4 Weeks
I’m last. I’m not even close to the next team, I’m just … dead last. 17,5 Points is not a lot.
The season is just 4 Weeks in, and I’m struggling to keep up. My team won’t get healthier, and I think I played some players I shouldn’t have played. It’s a learning process, but I just can’t the timing right and with that I mean: For every game LeBron misses, I should substitute it with someone else. But whenever I play JJJr (the one from Miami), he seems to forget how Basketball works. That one game Jalen Green was back, I didn’t want to start him for obvious reasons. Well, he dropped 40.
But, I was thinking: I should trust my ability to find waiver wire gems once the silly season starts, and I want to have some flexibility to catch the occasional Malachi-Flynn-50-Burger. Then FoMo kicked in, “I’m projected to finish the season 28 games below 82 on a few positions - I should play some dudes”
I went to the totals to figure out where I actually rank. I took the totals and divided them by games. Here some things got a bit clearer:
I’m only 12 games behind 11th place. That’s good
I really wanted to see my total FGA/FGMs to see, how much i can still influence that. Green and Cason did a number on that … number.
I am not dead last on 3PM/ per game. I’m 20 behind the 11th place, but on average, i am 3rd to last with a lot of upside.
FT% was surprising, but, again, I want to see the totals.
This is interesting because Points are just hard to come by: I am dead last in Points/ Game and the Waiver Wire didn’t treat me nicely here. I think seeing Son, Mike Barner and DDOMS here was wild. There’s a lot upside hidden.
I was surprised by my Rebounds: The top guys don’t seem to rebound well and with my Edey back there’s a lot of room to jump places.
Again, not bad with Assists either: I am better than 7 other teams, which is cool to see! This is the Cason Wallace effect with the 2nd best per game numbers in the entire league.
I thought my Moussa pick was so dope - and then it turned out to be Kalkbrenner. I’m sure he would’ve made me at least a top 3 team in this category.
If I calculate these numbers and add them, we can see, where I’d rank in per game numbers/ if we had played the same amount of games:
And tadaaaaa:
I’d still be last. But more competitively.
Damn, I am not good at this.

I resonate with what you wrote. That part about diving into the numbers to see where you really stand? So smart, totaly the right move.
